E-Cigarette Study: Vaping Could Save Smokers’ Lives

Recent research suggests vaping instead of smoking can add years to the lives of more than 6 million smokers. Other experts say e-cigarettes aren’t good for health.

Using mathematical models, researchers calculated how 2 possible scenarios of cigarette and e-cigarette use could affect public health if Americans who smoked cigarettes started to use e-cigarettes over the next 10 years. One was an “optimistic” scenario and the other one – “pessimistic.”

Switching to E-Cigarettes

Smokers who choose to switch to e-cigarettes from traditional cigarettes could reduce deaths caused by tobacco use. This is according to the abovementioned analysis that evaluates the role of nicotine alternatives.

The study was led by Dr. David Levy of Georgetown University Medical Center, and the findings have recently been published in the peer-review journal Tobacco Control.

The results of the study show that switching to vaping products would lead to 6.6 million fewer premature deaths, with a combined 86.7 million fewer years lost. The above-mentioned “pessimistic scenario,” with smoking rates and interventions continuing as they are, suggests deaths will be reduced by 1.6 million and there will be 20.8 million fewer life years lost.

Choosing Vaping Products. Electronic Cigarette Merchant Accounts.

Electronic cigarette businesses are classified as high risk. Merchants in the e-cig industry are well aware that opening an electronic cigarette merchant account for credit card processing won’t be easy for them.

That’s why it’s critical for merchants running an e-cig business to look for a reputable payment processor specializing in the high risk sector that will help them easily get approved for high risk credit card processing. For respectable high risk merchant account providers, e-cig merchant accounts aren’t a problem at all.

The researchers of the mentioned study say that the harms caused by cigarette smoking are still unacceptably high, though smoking has become less prevalent in the US over the last 50 years.

According to Marita Hefler, a public health researcher at Menzies School of Health Research in Australia, the results of the new study reveal that, even in a “pessimistic scenario,” if cigarettes are rapidly phased out, this could result in significant public health gains.

I May Try Some Coolsculpting

In fact I did not really know what this was until a few days ago, but I am going to see if it will solve this issue I have which mostly revolves around my vanity. I was talking to this girl at work and I pulled up my shirt to demonstrate the thing I meant. I had lost a bunch of weight to get ready for a beach vacation, but I did not look as good as I hoped. She told me about a place that does dermatology in Austin Texas which had one of these machines, or maybe two of them since she said that they put them on each side of your abdomen.

Prevent Migraines

Maintain regular sleep patterns
Lack of sleep is a huge trigger for migraines. If you want to prevent migraines, work really hard to go to sleep and wake up at the same time every day. It is also helpful to avoid napping and oversleeping. If you have consistent trouble falling asleep or staying asleep, seek medical attention to figure out the cause.

Don’t skip meals
By skipping meals, your blood sugar can drop significantly and lead to headaches, nausea or vomiting. Eat healthy, nutritious foods an avoid getting too hungry or too full.

Exercise regularly
If you are physically active for at least 30 minutes on most days of the week, your migraines may occur less frequently and severely. Something as easy as taking a daily walk can help.

Avoid stress
As stated above, stress is a major culprit for migraines. If you have a busy life, it is probably difficult to completely avoid stress. If your job is too stressful and you feel this may be the reason for your headaches, you may want to consider looking for another job to prevent migraines. Avoid situations that you know bring on a great deal of stress, and figure out ways to calm yourself down and refocus. Get some tips on ways to reduce stress quickly.

Limit or restrict smoking and drinking alcohol
Sure it might feel good at the time, but if smoking, drinking or the lack of good sleep these activities might cause brings on a migraine for you, it is best to completely avoid them.

Tricks Stopping Migraines

Although many migraine sufferers focus on finding solutions that will alleviate the pain, it is important to take preventative measures against its advancing to a full blown condition. The best way to prevent the development of migraines is to maintain normal habits and try to avoid getting into stressful situations. Some of the habits that are encouraged include eating regular meals that consist of the all the important nutrients needed for the body to function normally. Sleeping well and at a particular time daily without oversleeping also reduces the chances of suffering a migraine. Furthermore, regular exercise helps promote good health and encourages a lifestyle that reduces headaches.

All the same, if you are already suffering from migraines then the only choice left is to find the best way to stop them for destabilizing your life. When looking for the best ways on how to stop a migraine, there are a number of options to consider such as lifestyle changes, medication or natural treatments.

Lifestyle changes involve taking lots of rest in a room that is dark and quiet as soon as the pain caused by the migraine begins. Also, tilting the head from side to side to stretch the neck gives it some relief as the muscles stretch and relax the whole body. On the other hand, natural treatments such as herbs and supplements have also been known to stop migraines or reduce their occurrence. Some of these treatments that are nature based include ginger which reduces nausea, a common symptom of migraines and also lessens severity of migraines. Other natural supplements are riboflavin that minimizes the frequency of the migraines and magnesium which relieves the throbbing pain that is often associated with the condition.

An additional alternative of stopping migraines is through the use of medication which is usually effective and brings a lot of relief. It is advisable that the drugs are taken as soon as possible, which is in the initial half an hour of noticing the symptoms of migraines. However, it is important that the medication be prescribed by a qualified physician to ensure that it is effective and safe. Some of the well known medications for the condition are anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen and triptans which compress the blood vessels resulting in reduced pain.

Chiropractic Treatment

Researchers and medical professionals have diagnosed 150 categories of headaches. Tension headaches, sometimes called chronic daily headaches, are the most common type among adolescents and adults. Muscles contract, causing mild to moderate pain, and these headaches frequently come and go over a prolonged period. Causes of headaches of the migraine variety are unknown, though doctors believe migraines are related to changes within the brain, including blood vessel contractions.

Migraines are often characterized by throbbing, pounding pain that ranges from moderate to severe in degree. A migraine can last from four hours to as long as three days and typically occurs between one and four times per month. Associated symptoms include nausea or vomiting, appetite loss, and sensitivity to noise, odors, or light. Children suffering from migraines may also feel dizzy, look pale, experience blurred vision, and get a fever. The condition can be so debilitating that sufferers of all ages are willing to try anything to get migraine headache relief.

People suffering from sinus headaches report a constant, deep pain in their forehead, cheekbones, or the bridge of their nose. Sudden movement of the head only intensifies this pain. Other sinus-related symptoms including fever, nasal discharge, and facial swelling often accompany these headaches. Cluster headaches are the least common primary headache types and these are characterized by intense constant or throbbing pain behind one eye or within the eye region that has a piercing or burning quality.

Depending on the type of headache being experienced, pain may be felt in the forehead, around the eyes, in the temples, or in the back of the head. While headaches of the cluster variety occur on one side of the head, other types occur on both sides. Patients may grow so accustomed to experiencing a certain type of headache that they refer to it as “normal.” While headache pain may be common, it is never normal and migraine, sinus, cluster, and tension headache relief should be sought as soon as possible.

While exact causes of headaches that fall into some categories are unknown, research indicates that upper neck joints and nerves are the source of pain experienced by many common headache suffers. This area of the body is referred to as the cervical spine and the condition is referred to as a cerviogenic headache, which means “headaches coming from the neck.” In its headache classification system, the National Institutes of Health classifies cerviogenic headaches as one of the five major types of headaches.

Spinal manipulations, also called spinal adjustments, are safe and effective remedies for headaches due to irritated upper neck joints and nerves. Within the U.S., Doctors of Chiropractic perform most spinal manipulations. The adjustments they perform safely and gently establish proper movement of the upper neck and its joints. Reported side effects have been few, if any, making spinal manipulation a viable alternative to medication-based headache remedies commonly used by American headache sufferers.

Non-steroidal, anti-inflammatory drugs, or NSAIDS, are commonly taken to achieve stress, tension, and migraine headache relief. These medications are available without a prescription, making them easy for headache sufferers to obtain. However, they can also be quite harmful due to their side effects. Every year in the U.S., more than 100,000 people are hospitalized and more than 16,000 die from irritation or bleeding ulcers within the stomach and gastric tract stemming from NSAID side effects.

Brain Hemorrhage

Hypertension may be a persuasive hazard as it builds amplified pressure inside the blood artery and overtime wanes the blood vessel. A weakened vessel can result in aneurysm make the inner wall of the blood vessel to rupture. If in case this happens in or around brain cell brain hemorrhage occurs.

There are primarily two distinct types

• Intracranial hemorrhage or Intracerebral haemorrhage
• Subarachnoid haemorrhage

Causes of Brain Hemorrhage

There may be numerous risk factors

1. Head Trauma during any accident: It is a very common cause for it as any severe head injury may lead to internal bleed in brain which in turn results as brain stroke.

2. Patient suffering from high blood pressure: Over a stretch of time due to high blood pressure the blood arteries of the brain weakens and may rupture someday leading to cerebral hemorrhage.

3. Aneurysm: It may weaken the inner membrane of blood vessels and it may swell and burst open resulting in spread of blood in cerebral fluid leading to hemorrhage.

4. Blood vessel aberrations from birth: Sometimes brain may suffer from blood vessel aberrations from birth which may lead to cerebral hemorrhage due to weakening of blood arteries.

5. Weakness in blood vessels due to Amyloid angiopathy: Over time as the patient ages sometimes there is an observation in blood vessels which weakens them. There are overlooked bleeds occasionally before it causes a major hemorrhage in brain.

6. Hemophilia or sickle cell anemia: Patients suffering from either Hemophilia disease or sickle cell anemia disease may abruptly have reduced blood cells leading to brain bleeding.

Dizziness and Vertigo

Dizziness is a feeling of lightheadedness with or without loss of balance. Dizziness is also felt when there is a blood pressure drop. Dehydration is also a major cause of dizziness, and motion sickness can definitely make people dizzy. There are forms of dizziness that pass without medical intervention. However, dizziness can also be a symptom of a more serious medical condition.

Regular folk might think that vertigo is just dizziness, but in the medical profession it is a very specific type of dizziness. Vertigo is more than a sense of being giddy, but instead it is a sensation that the world is spinning. It is also not similar to a fear of heights or acrophobia. Rather, even if the environment is not moving at all, the person who suffers from vertigo feels as if the world moves all the time. It is also different from a certain type of fainting sensation or disequilibrium. The type of dizziness that is felt in vertigo is a form of spinning due primarily to a pathological condition of the vestibular system which is found within the inner ear.

There is a set of associated symptoms that characterize a state of vertigo. Some of these symptoms are tinnitus or ringing in the ears, hearing loss, vomiting, and nausea. There are a couple of areas that may be problematic, thus resulting in the physical symptoms. If there is a disturbance in the labyrinth within the inner ear or in the auditory nerve pathways, vertigo may result. These disturbances may result from inner ear inflammation, vestibular nerve inflammation, and Ménière’s disease, among others. A certain type of vertigo that is caused by migraine headache is called central vertigo.

Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo or BPPV is worth mentioning here because is it a condition that is very manageable as soon as it is diagnosed properly. BPPV is seen more in older persons than in younger people, and its incidence is higher in women than in men. Although there is no known cause, there are available management approaches that address the problems adequately.

BPPV is an idiopathic disease without an identifiable cause, but there are cases where BPPV is seen after head injury, ear surgery, labyrinthitis, vertebrobasilar ischemia (or reduced blood flow in that area of the brain), and prolonged bed rest. BPPV may also be seen as an associated symptom in syphilis, drug toxicity, otosclerosis or a genetic problem in the ear that leads to deafness, and Ramsay Hunt syndrome (viral infection).

Some Alternative Treatment for Migraine

Migraines can often disrupt things like important personal appearances and special events. They can also cause frequent absenteeism from work. This eventually leads to a disruption in both professional and personal relationships and they can affect the inability to advance in the workplace. This also causes social problems such as isolation as well as a reduction in income.

Even though there are a variety of treatments for migraine sufferers, many are realizing that pain medications don’t solve the underlying problem. They only dull or numb the pain for a limited amount of time. In order to gain more control of their lives, migraine headache sufferers are turning to homeopathic treatments such as acupuncture and herbal supplements. It is important to note that studies are now showing positive results from treating the headaches with chiropractic care.

When migraine sufferers were treated with chiropractic care on a regular basis, patients experienced either substantial or noticeable improvement. They found that the frequency of the headaches was reduced, the length of time that they suffered from the headache was less, or they didn’t need to use their medication as much as they did prior to treatment.

Cervical or spinal manipulation is a common choice for those who want a more non-evasive, drug-free solution. While it’s important to note that not all treatments work for all patients, spinal manipulation has proven to be as effective as drug therapy but with fewer side effects.

It’s also important for migraine sufferers to understand the misconceptions surrounding the typical remedies for headache relief.

· Pain medications temporarily relieve pain. They don’t relieve what’s causing the problem.

· Over the counter and prescription drugs can have serious side effects.

· Stress isn’t the direct cause of a headache. It is more related to how your body reacts to the stress in your life.

· A headache or migraine won’t go away unless you treat the cause of the problem.

Jet Lag Affects Body

Medical researchers have attributed to jet lag most of the immunity problems that are experienced by travelers. Immunity problem refers to your susceptibility to be affected by a number of infections. This is because your biological clock helps in the production of a particular type of protein that in turn aids in the detection of harmful bacteria.

Another effect of jet lag is a disturbance in your sleeping pattern. When you travel from one place to another, and effectively cross time zones, your body adapts to a change in climate, temperature level and the surrounding noise. This is why most people who are jet-lagged tend to experience difficulty in falling asleep easily in the new place. This is not to mention the hours you spend awake even if your body already tells you that it should be resting at that time-just because your surroundings are still very much alive.

Finally, jet lag’s symptoms affect your social and physiological functions. As your sleeping pattern suffers and your symptoms continue to bother, you would find it more difficult to communicate with people around you as well as perform different tasks that involve physical and mental well-being.

However, you need not worry because as in most conditions, jet lag lasts only for a few days until you have adjusted to your surroundings. If you always experience jet lag, better consult a doctor first before your travel to get the best advice to prevent jet lag.

Information of Triggers Migraines

Emotional stress: people with periods of high stress, or those who have accumulated stress are more prone to getting a migraine attack. Those who have suppressed emotions or react quickly and easily to stress are also likely to have a migraine attack. The most common stressors include anxiety, worry, shock, depression, excitement, mental fatigue, loss and grief etc.

Stress does not necessarily have to be negative in nature; it can be appositive stress as well. Similarly the way an individual reacts to stress may also bring about or prevent an episode of migraine.

In some people, the exceptionally high self-expectations or anticipations from life can also cause a migraine.

Physical stress: overexertion in the form of strenuous exercise (especially when out of shape!), exercise in unfavorable climatic conditions, or even a marathon race can exacerbate a migraine attack.

Visual triggers are made up of over straining of eyes, e.g. in front of a computer Or television screen, bright glaring lights, fluorescent lights, or using glasses of wrong eye power are all known to cause migraine.

Injuries or becoming tired or fatigued as a result of excessive work may also trigger migraine.

Dietary stress: Dietary stress has been studied under various heads; skipped meals or fasting, low blood sugar, use of specific foods or fasting.

A list of specific foods that may trigger migraine are enlisted here. Some food types may act as triggers for some people, while some may not. You have to keep an individual note of what seems to trigger your migraine.

Food type – Examples

Chocolate and cocoa,
alcoholic beverages such as red wine, sherry and beer,
even small quantity of caffeine

Figs, raisins, papaya, avocados, red plums, overripe bananas

Beans, peas, olives, onions
